No thanks. I don't want to know about the devil or vote for any devil at all who ruined the country through incompetent and inapt government. Some people may say, "A bad policy is better than none", but Labor has far too many ill conceived and ill managed policies-on-the-run.

Kevin Rudd has a heart of coal and weak tear ducts. His "burning" desire to return to his throne after his ungraceful removal by his colleagues was never far away. Again and again, he sheds his crocodile tears begging for forgiveness even for things that he did not do. There is nothing fair dinkum about his tears.

Winning the hearts of the people of Australia is more than just showing a shaving cut on YouTube or knowing how to fiddle with the buttons or keyboard Twitting. Prime ministership is a dignified position, and the office must be filled by the rightful person who shows respect to the position - definitely not by a clown.

Can anyone trust the team of "drunken sailors" who has no concept of numeracy and economy, and turn a $18 billion blackhole into $30 billion in three months? If they can't make a short term forecast, what hope do the people of Australia have in returning to budget surplus of $4 billion in 2016/2017 as promised?

Another policy on the run by Labor. This is a band aid approach by Kevin Rudd, trying to clear the deck for an early election. This is no difference from having the asylum seekers kept in Malaysia, passing buck to another neighbour to do the dirty job, except that PNG is a UN signatory.

Ethically and morally this is very wrong to hand the boat people to PNG's hell hole where women and children will be abused in greater number and frequency. I can bet my bottom dollar that Kevin Rudd will shed his crocodile tears saying "sorry" again, meaninglessly. I want to state this very clearly that it will be over my dead body to to allow him to say "sorry on behalf of the people of Australia" because he is the one and only culprit, and his action causes it.

Beware one-man show: warning for Labor

Liberal will win the next election, but Labor will put up a good contest under Kevin Rudd. The damage caused by former Prime Minister Julia Gillard will take time to heal.

For Australia's sake, Labor must not win the election, or else Australia will enter an era of financial crisis. Not unlike Julia Gillard, both spent money like no tomorrow.

Kevin Rudd is the 26th and 28th Prime Minister. In his previous PM life, he demonstrated that he was a workaholic which earned him the title Kevin 24/7 with a management style dreaded by his staff. In fact, the PM office had extremely high staff turnover.

Kevin Rudd is a good communicator, but then talk is cheap. He has many Twitter followers, and speaks Mandarin very fluently. His smiling baby face is likeable especially adored by seniors, but this is a facade of "hiding a knife behind the smiling face" (36 Stratagems).

Gonski funding model for schools seems like a fair system, but it will not fix the real problems. Billions of dollars will be misused by schools and principals, not dissimilar to some of the Labor government funded projects. The core problem must be tackled, and the education system must undergo a complete revamping from early childhood learning to tertiary education.

It is interesting to note that Penny Wong, former Finance Minister under the Gillard's government, has switched camp and landed in the position as the Leader of Senate. Penny Wong's survival is a very smart and strategic move by Kevin Rudd. Penny Wong is an Asian-born (Sabahian), lesbian female. She is the best tool for killing three birds (race, gay, gender) with one penny.

The ways Labor spent money on all past projects can only be compared with people with pea brains. Two wrongs don't make one right!

Carbon capture storage (CCS) was doomed and carbon tax will cause many Australian businesses to doom. Two doomed carbon schemes don't make one oxygen breather for Australian business.

Don't let this pain and suffering to continue further after the next election. Julia Gillard got rid of Kevin Rudd, voters will get rid of Julia Gillard. Two hopeless leaders don't make one great Australia!

As for the Coalition, two negative knockings don't make one positive policy.

May I ask the Coalition why two parties in coalition cannot beat one?

The strategy Liberal Party needs to adopt now is to "Conquer and Divide". Each Labor MP can serve only one master, either Julia Gillard or Kevin Rudd, and therefore, for each supporting group, the number of MPs is less than the total number of Liberal MPs working as a team.

If any Liberal MP is stupid enough to start infighting now, they should be sent to Christmas Island and never to be released! Liberal's infighting will cost the party missing the boat to win the next election, presumably an early one.

For the Liberal's leader, too much negativity can lead to voters' revolt. Prove to me why I should vote for the Party if I perceive the Party is nothing more than just a bunch of sour grapes, and cannot think of anything positive to say, such as how the Party can bring employment and prosperity back.

Unemployment and trade deficits are not just numbers. They represent jobs that bring home the bacon. They are the roots of many family breakup, depression, and other human sufferings.

Until and unless Rudd becomes the Labor leader, he will not disappear in the wilderness. He will continue to destabilise the party, and create more uncertainty.

When someone including Rudd tells you positively that he is going for the top job, you know for sure he means what he says. On the contrary, if he tells you otherwise, there is no certainty the answer stands.

I place my bet on Rudd is going to challenge Gillard. Oh yes, personal glory comes before consequence!

It is frightening to read more and more reports about companies sacking or retrenching staff. These reports do not only fuel public unease about job insecurity, but also national economic uncertainty. Many potential home buyers will defer their purchasing decisions, and investors will reassess whether their investing in properties could attract tenants if job opportunities dwindle.

The existing Labor government make mistakes after mistakes wasting good money on things that don’t create more employment. The Government introduce taxes which bring more hardship to businesses that need to compete with cheap imports and online market. The flow on effect creates more hardship to the defenceless – Australian public who have to face high utility costs.

Real estate industry is a very large industry (may be RP Data can supply some statistics on this), and it is not a static, stand-alone one. Including all the other related industries, they are the largest employers in any nation. The Government need to have a cold hard look on their policies and review how these can impact on the real estate industry.

Julia Gillard has copped a lot from the Australian public including myself, but I have no sympathy for her. Respect is earned, and she definitely has not earned her stripes, probably with the exception from the President representing the country having a flag with stars and stripes.

Her self-confidence has become her biggest enemy. It turns her to be self-centred, and arrogant. That's why Julia Gillard thinks that she is the best to lead Labor.

Julia Gillard is definitely not the best to lead Australia. God save Australia!

Australian Workers Union backs Prime Minister Julia Gillard's carbon tax

I don't understand what the Union is trying to say about "... illegal dumping by overseas competitors". It is more than likely that by stopping the use of brown coal for power generation, the coal will either lay buried in the ground thus causing loss of jobs, or continue to be mined thus retaining the miners' ability to earn their daily bread. The second option means exporting or dumping the brown coal to other countries, which probably operate dirtier and more polluting plants than what we have currently. Supporting the Gillard government carbon tax and ETS policies only highlights one's selfishness and moral corruption. Unionists be wise - don't support something that goes against your conscience, whether the Government of the day is Labor or Liberal. The moral behind the Labor Government's story is: Thou shalt not dirty your own backyard.

If Julia Gillard can't convince the majority of Australians the idea of carbon tax for the last few weeks on television, radio, print media, YouTube, etc., probably worth more than $25 million of virtual promotion without costing the public a cent, how can $25 million of real money change the public opinion? This is another example of Labor / Gillard's Government of mismanaging taxpayers' money. $25 million can be used to feed many hungry stomaches and fund another public housing project! The world economy is getting from bad to worse, and Australia good time cannot last indefinitely. It does not need Nostradamus to tell us that weakness in property market, car sales, retail business, and low consumer confidence are not sure signs of economic collapse. The way Labor / Gillard's Government pouring money down the drain is despicable; Gillard and her team MUST go; if the Liberal is not going to do anything more positive to bring about the political scenario change, Australians MUST rise to get rid of this incompetent government before the death of this lucky country!

This is a political suicide for Malcolm Turnbull for the so-called telling the truth. The truth is in the Australia political system, if the major Party cannot win an election, that Party will not be able to form the Government on its own, or like the Labor, will have to suck up to the Greens in order to get things done.

Voters are looking for and looking up to a strong united and cohesive party, whether as the government or opposition. Turnbull's arrogance will backfire and may cause Liberal's chance to win the next election. Tony Abbott is riding high at the moment, especially on carbon tax issue. If Malcolm Turnbull can keep his trap shut for the time being, despite his different stance, Liberal can win government rather comfortably the next round, probably in sooner than 2 years according to my prediction.

If he continues to behave like a spoilt brat, Tony Abbott will have no choice but to dump him from the Shadow Ministry in the name of party sustainability.

Labor carbon policies are impractical and will turn Australia into one of the most expensive and unaffordable country to live in. It is pointless to have the cleanest planet if no one can enjoy it, or afford to enjoy it!

I'm not a Bowen sympathiser, nor Labor supporter. It is better late than never. Sometimes we all wish to have a free hand to do everything, but this not the case in the real world. Just hope that the amendments to the laws will do what we are hoping for - tough enough to deter, punish the violators, yet satisfy our role as good Samaritans to help the genuine help seekers.

"Women, families and higher-income earners were the strongest supporters"? What an insult to the intelligence of these people (I hope I'm defending correctly)!

Julia Gillard, tell us honestly (if you understand the meaning of honesty) what are the ratios of distribution / usage of the carbon tax collected from the large carbon emitters?

Labor has never been a good money manager, and it is frightening to imagine much of the money will be wasted in building an ivory tower managed by a large pool of fat cats, leaving nothing much to invest in clean energy - and even so probably in Labor's marginal seats!

Wake up all Australians, last month our country experienced a trade deficit of 0.2 billion dollars. The trend will worsen from now on. Unless the Labor Government do something more constructive in revitalising our manufacturing industries and creating jobs, rather than just deceiving and distracting the people on an issue similar to the Y2K hoax, Australia will definitely become a banana republic!

For the good of Australia, show no mercy to this smiling lying Prime Minister. Show no pity to vote for her just because she is a female! Do vote smart, not for a tart!

Literacy and numeracy education system flawed - Part 2

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/literacy-and-numeracy-education-system-flawed/story-e6frea6u-1226033651976

The previous comment I posted is based on my many years of experience as a trainer (a word I dislike to use) in competency-based-training (CBT) in private colleges and TAFEs. There is a push to introduce CBT in primary and secondary schools. This will worsen the LLN problem.

LLN is fundamental and basic requirement upon which other knowledge and skills can be built on. CBT is good for task-based training, but makes the learners very much one-track mind. As an example of CBT, a sportsperson may excel in a particular sport he/she is trained and coached in, but nothing else.

CBT is also a cause for many mature-age workers being unemployed. While they may have years of solid background and know-how for a particular field of work, an employer or the employment agency prefers to seek out candidates, probably with little or no prior working experience but have specific skills, to fill the position for that particular instance. Resume can be fabricated so that a candidate has an advantage over other applicants, but when problem arise, all hell breaks loose.

LLN skills are not an option. They must be compulsory to job seekers, because of our stringent industrial and employment laws.

Literacy and numeracy education system flawed - Part 1

Commenting on “Literacy and numeracy education system flawed”
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/literacy-and-numeracy-education-system-flawed/story-e6frea6u-1226033651976

The education system fails Australia! Too much emphasis is placed on training instead of teaching, and competency instead of quality.

In the name of being a developed, affluent English speaking country, we have a misconception that we are more superior than our neighbouring Asian countries - poor, underdeveloped or developing.

Whatever we do in Australia, we do it the most expensive way, because we are bound by many legislative requirements such as equal opportunity, anti-discrimination acts. Our system produces half-baked Rolls Royce instead of quality T-Ford learners.

From early childhood days, children are brainwashed to take things easy, not to be overloaded with knowledge - the key to future success. Instead of building solid foundation based on language, literacy and numeracy LLN skills, children are forced to learn things that even adults have problem in grasping such social responsibility, global warming, bullying, etc. Children are encouraged to think and debate without the underpinning knowledge, and hence grow up to be unreasonable and arrogant - Jack of all trades, and master of none.

My motto is "being good is not good enough, my minimum standard is excellence!"

Dumped Target 155 Water Scheme was Working

Posted to The Age on (3/3/2011) 3/3/2011 at 12:01 PM
Commenting on “Dumped Target 155 Water Scheme was Working”

Liberal Government definitely made the wrong decision in ditching the Target 155 campaign, with so much fanfare and publicity. In business and in life, we set targets and goals not that we will achieve them definitely, but they are something to aim for, to better ourselves in many aspects of performance.

Whether or not it was introduced by the former Labor government or anyone, Target 155 "was" a fantastic idea. Saving water should not be viewed as a policy; it should be a way of life. The best part of Target 155 was that no additional tax was imposed on people using water above the target - in fact, Target 155 was a psychological barrier. As a result, the public made conscious and unconscious decisions to conserve this valuable "resource".

By axing the campaign, or more correctly removing this magical target, many will revert back to bad habit using more water, causing increase in household spending, which can either increase household debt, or cannibalise spending on other services. In the worst case, both evils can take place

Target 155 should be synonymous to Keep Australia Beautiful, Cleanup Australia, Planet Ark, Greening Australia, Earth Hour, etc. The program should be expanded instead of being axed.
